Privacy Policy

Chants is a sports app where fans post Takes in Rivalry Rooms during and around games. Chants is operated by Jack Barron, doing business as Chants ("Chants," "we," "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Questions: support@joinchants.com.
What we collect

If you use Sign in with Apple and choose "Hide My Email," we receive a private relay address from Apple, not your real email.
We do not collect your contacts, precise location, health data, or payment information. We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
How we use it
- To create and run your account, including sending one-time sign-in codes by email.
- To show your Takes and profile to other users in the rooms you post in.
- To send push notifications you allow, such as when your team's room opens or someone replies to your Take. You can turn them off in the app or in your iPhone's Settings.
- To keep Chants safe: reviewing reports, enforcing our Terms, and preventing spam and abuse.
- To fix bugs and keep the app working, using crash reports and technical data.
- To show live game information. Scores and schedules come from a sports data provider and do not involve your personal data.
What is public
Your handle, your team, your profile, and your Takes, replies and reactions are visible to other Chants users. Do not post anything you want to keep private. Your email address is never shown to other users.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share it only with service providers that run Chants for us, under their own privacy and security commitments:

We may also share information if the law requires it, to protect someone's safety, or as part of a sale or reorganization of Chants, in which case this policy continues to apply.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time in the app, under Profile settings.
When you delete your account, we delete your email, profile and posts, and your handle becomes available again. Two exceptions:
- If another user replied to one of your Takes, your Take is replaced with a "deleted" placeholder so the conversation still makes sense. Your name and content are removed.
- We keep moderation records, such as reports and enforcement decisions, with your identity removed, so we can keep enforcing our rules and meet legal obligations.
If you signed in with Apple, deleting your account also revokes Chants' access to your Apple ID. Crash reports are kept by Sentry for a limited period and then deleted.
Your choices and rights
- See and edit your profile in the app at any time.
- Delete your account in the app at any time.
- Block users and report content in the app.
- Email support@joinchants.com to ask for a copy of your data or to ask a privacy question. We respond within 30 days.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights, such as the right to access, correct or delete your data, or to opt out of its sale. We don't sell data, and we honor these requests for everyone.
Children
Chants is only for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, email support@joinchants.com and we will delete it.
Security
We use encryption in transit, access controls on our database, and limited internal access to protect your information. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
Where data is stored
Chants is based in the United States, and your information is stored and processed in the United States.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date and let you know in the app before the changes apply.
